We challenge you this week to discover your talents. What do you think youre good at?
It’s week 2 of month 4 our 12 Months of Wellness series, and we’re discovering our talents. A great way to do this is to try something new. Now that spring’s in air, do you find yourself getting antsy? I do. Spring is a great time to shake up your life— a little or a lot—it’s a time of rebirth, growth, and new beginnings.
But sometimes it’s tough to figure out what we’re good at. As a kid, I was always pegged as a straight-A student and a bookworm. I loved reading books from the library, but I didn’t participate in organized sports. At one June track and field day when I was in grade four, I had the opportunity to do high jump for the first time, and to my astonishment, I won the red ribbon! I had no idea I was good at high jump. Many of us don’t know what we’re good at until we try something and see whether it resonates with us.
High jumping may not be your choice of new activity, but is there something you’ve always wanted to try? Running, playing guitar, writing your memoir, painting a picture, singing in a choir, speaking French, learning sign language, sky jumping? The possibilities are endless.
So this week, think about the things that resonate with you. Brainstorm and make a list of activities you’ve always wanted to try. Then pick one from your list—and try it! And if you don’t like it, or find it isn’t for you, go back to the drawing board and pick something else.
I’ll be checking in on Wednesday to see how you’re doing, and share some of the ways the alive staff are discovering their talents by trying something new.
