#2013alive: Looking Ahead: Be Eco-Conscious!

For July, we’ll be taking a step back and appreciating the environment by being eco-conscious.

We’re more than halfway through our 12 Months of Wellness journey. In June, we took some time to connect with nature, whether through getting outside on our lunch breaks or bringing some greenery into our indoor lives.

As July rolls around, we’re taking a step back to appreciate all that the environment does for us; by making responsible and sustainable choices, we can give it the TLC that it deserves.

Be eco-conscious

Taking care of the environment doesn’t mean that we aren’t also taking care of ourselves. Many of the environmentally-friendly choices we can make also hold benefits for our own health and wellbeing. Next week, we’ll be looking at:

practising safe transit

Walking and biking are fantastic alternatives to cramming into the car when running errands or picking the kids up from school. Not only does Mother Nature get a break from exhaust fumes, but you get some exercise and the chance to chill out.

being a smart consumer

In week two, we'll take a look at how buying natural products with less packaging are great ways to eliminate harmful chemicals from your home and to reduce waste pileup in landfills, creating a win-win for both you and the planet.

composting with confidence

For week four, we’re giving leftovers new life by composting. This reduces the impact of organic waste in landfills, and the compost can be used to replace harmful chemical fertilizers.

Stay connected!
