For week 2 of August on our 12 Months of Wellness journey, alive staff tell how they have fun in their communities!
This week for our 12 Months of Wellness journey, we’re getting involved in our communities in a very important way: by having fun! Now, alive staff members are telling their stories about what they do around their communities for fun.
Karla Gursche, Advertising Account Manager: “I hosted a celebration of pie in honor of my husband’s 50th birthday and had 70 people over to enjoy them. We made 22 different kinds of pies and flans using lots of summer fruits and berries.”
Ryan Benn, President: “With two young girls (5 and 2), and a strong need to be part of the community, I feel like every weekend we are out having fun and making the most of where we live. Just this past weekend, we went as a family to the Ladner Village Market, and amazing open air market. This year, we have also spent time in Nanoose and went to Art in the Garden, a local craft fair in the backyard of a farm. Just two days later, we attended the Parksville Sandcastle competition.”
Ellen Niemer, Editor and Creative Services Liason: “Last weekend I visited Cloverdale’s Blueberry Festival. It was a small local event that was free and featured homemade blueberry treats, a show and shine, live entertainment, and local crafters, including knitters, weavers, sewers, and rug hookers. The Surrey Museum, where the crafters were housed, was open to the public for free, so it was a great opportunity to meet people and learn more about my community at very little cost.”
