Recipes using whole grains take a little longer to rise than recipes using white flour, and the finished product will be denser. For variety, use kamut flour and oat bran with grapeseed oil. Substitute wheat germ for sunflower seeds or add ground flax.

1 1/8 cups (290 mL) water
2 Tbsp oil (30 mL)
1 Tbsp (15 mL) honey
1 ½ tsp (7 mL) sea salt
3 cups (750 mL) wholegrain wheat flour
2 Tbsp (30 mL) wheat or oat bran
1/4 cup (60 mL) wheat germ
1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) breadmaker yeast

Put ingredients into breadmaker in order listed. Set on dough cycle. When complete remove dough from machine. Form into 12 balls, shaping each into rolls. Place on lightly greased baking sheet, cover lightly, and let rise 50 to 60 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake 20 minutes.
