Greet your guests with the wonderful Christmas aroma of cinnamon, cloves and anise. Makes four quarts (four litres).
4 qt (4 l) natural unfiltered apple cider
1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
2 cinnamon sticks, each 3 inches (8 cm) long
5 cloves
2 pieces star anise
10 juniper berries
2 large apples, thinly sliced
1 large lime, thinly sliced
1 large orange, thinly sliced
Wrap cinnamon, cloves, anise and juniper berries in a cheesecloth and place them in a pot on low heat with apple cider and honey. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the spices, garnish with apple, orange and lime and serve. Makes four quarts (four litres).
