Chai tea drinks are increasingly popular, so it's no surprise that more and more people are starting to enjoy tea infused with spices. This recipe is based on Ayurvedic recommendations for heart health. Drink it morning and night.
Spice Mix:
1 tsp (5 mL) cardamom, ground
1 stick cinnamon
1/2 tsp (2.5 mL) black peppercorns
1/4 tsp (1 mL) whole cloves
Chai Tea:
1 tsp (5 mL) cinnamon
1 tsp (5 mL) honey
1 cup (250 mL) boiling water
Mix cinnamon and other spices and add to boiling water. Stir and steep for 5 minutes. Add honey and enjoy warm.
Make up the spice mix in larger batches and keep on hand to fill a tea infuser ball whenever you want to add a spicy flavour to black, rooibos, or cinnamon tea. Serves 1.
