Meatless Monday: Vegetarian Grilling

Grilling is a quick and tasty way to cook up vegetarian meals too. This Meatless Monday we’re sharing our favourite meat-free BBQ fare.

Here on the West Coast we are lapping up some well-earned sunshine after months of on-again, off-again typical Vancouver weather. This weekend people everywhere stopped off at their recently opened farmers’ markets  for some summer fare and filled up their propane tanks to grill up their bounty.

But just because grilling season is here doesn’t mean we’re limited to cooking a carnivorous meal fit for a family of velociraptors. Grilling is a quick and delicious way to cook up vegetarian meals too, and this Meatless Monday we’re sharing with you our favourite meat-free dishes—sure to satisfy even the most ravenous beasts!

Burgers
Nothing satisfies quite like a big, juicy burger. Thankfully there are many meatless versions available to purchase at your local health food store. Or try your hand at one of these savoury meat-free burger recipes.

Kebabs
Rather than the typical chicken or beef, add tofu or tempeh to your kebabs, and experiment with different seasonal veggies.

Sides
Many of your favourite barbecue sides are already vegetarian. Pasta and potato salads can be made vegan by swapping out the typical egg-based mayo for a vegan oil-based one.

Dessert
High heat from the barbeque caramelizes fruits’ natural sugars, making them meltingly juicy—so fire up the grill again for dessert!
