King of the slow-burning energy squad, oats are a breakfast favourite at alive. Today, we talk about why you should give steel-cut oats a whirl.

We have harped on about oatmeal many times. In fact, it’s one of our most treasured and favourite things to wake up to.

People often skirt past steel cut oats, in favour of more popular quick-cook and rolled varieties.

Steel-cut oats admittedly do take longer to prepare, but they carry a whole host of other reasons to give ‘em a go.

Reason 1: Flavour

As we mentioned here, steel-cut oats up the yummy factor significantly. The creamy and hearty texture they produce is unrivalled.

Reason 2: Batch cooking

Yes, yes they take a while to cook (more details on that here), but they are totally reheatable! You can whip up a big batch when you have time and then have breakfast taken care of for days to come. Just pop the oatmeal on the stove with a splash of water or milk and heat through.

Reason 3: Variety

The world is your oyster! Try baked oatmeal, muesli, and myriad toppings such as this delicious chocolate and cherry idea. And that’s just for breakfast!
