OUR FACT-CHECKING POLICY

All health claims made in our articles are supported with the latest references that are less than 10 years old. The references that we swear by include clinical studies and reputable health information sites. Any article marked with a “fact-checked” button has been written or reviewed by a subject matter specialist, like a naturopathic doctor.

OUR CORRECTIONS POLICY

Our editors promptly identify and correct any errors. When mistakes are made, they’re corrected quickly and transparently in online articles or as a note in subsequent issues of alive magazine. We hold our team accountable by internally tracking all article revisions.

OUR AI POLICY

However, if AI is used as part of the editorial process, the content is always reviewed, edited, and fact-checked by our human experts. We use social media as an important tool to connect with readers and amplify our message. As with our editorial content, all social media posts are fact-checked for accuracy. alive is a natural health brand owned by Alive Publishing Group Inc. and is funded by advertising revenue. However, our content is selected and published by our editors, independent of advertiser input. We publish what we believe will be beneficial, based on current trends, reader inquiries, and emerging health concerns.

OUR PUBLICATION PROCESS

We only publish articles after a thorough review process, ensuring the info is current and supported by science. Here’s how the magic typically happens.

1. Health writers research topics and submit articles (along with all referenced sources) to our editors. 2. Editors thoroughly fact-check and proofread the article. 3. The article goes back to the health writer for approval. 4. The editor confirms any final changes, and the article is sent along for publishing in one of our magazines or on alive.com.

For recipes, our in-house chef/food stylist tests each recipe—sometimes multiple times to make sure we get it right! We create recipes with functional, whole organic ingredients that nourish your body and feed your soul.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT

We uphold ambitious sustainability standards. As part of this commitment, we are proud to partner with veritree, the world leader in tree-planting transparency, to plant thousands of trees each year and help offset our paper usage. We believe we have our part to play in curbing climate change, while supporting local communities, addressing economic inequality, and regenerating nature.

We take other sustainable actions beyond planting trees. For example, we are constantly investigating our supply chain to identify opportunities to be more sustainable, such as reducing print waste. Our team takes small steps around our office and in our everyday lives, including biking to work and using less single-use plastic.

We believe our biggest impact is our ability to educate millions of readers each month, which is why each issue of alive magazine devotes significant editorial page space to sustainability content.

CONTINUAL UPDATING OF CONTENT

Research into natural health modalities is always evolving. We continually monitor and update existing articles to keep content current. Modified articles receive a new "updated on" date for transparency. Modifications may include new photos, different headlines, minor corrections, and fresh information to provide more value for readers. We’re always looking out for new trends and natural health breakthroughs, but if the research hasn’t quite caught up to the hype, we’ll tell you.
