Has anyone out there ever heard of treating depression, anxiety and psychosis with a vitamin/mineral supplement?

Please tell me your story if you have tried this or know of anyone who has. My mother sufferes from schizophrenia and I've heard some interesting things about vitamin/mineral therapy and how it affects the mind.

For me, fighting depression is more about preventing depression. We need to stay and live positive lives. A positive outlook is one that spreads to other people just as fast as a negative one.

Sounds harder than it is - trust me - being positive is the best way to battle the onset of mild depression.

EFA's and all of your B vitamins...a good place to start.

Hi,
I'm a Clinical Hypnotherapist and work with people struggling with depression on a daily basis. My experience is that while using some form of drug (whether it's pharmaceutical, herbal or homeopathic) to help manage the effects of depression may help - ultimately you simply have to deal with the cause.

Understanding the cause of depression and removing it is the only thing that will help in the end. While you work through this, you might consider using small amounts of valerian. It's a herb which seems to help with anxiety. While working with clients who are withdrawing from cocaine use, I have found this gives them relief from anxiety and depression which goes along with withdrawal.

You may want to consider giving it a try - but only if you are interested in dealing with the underlying causes.
