I am wanting to loose a few pounds. Does Hoodia work to help you from getting hungary like I've heard? I've also read that the products that say they contain Hoodia actually have hardly any pure Hoodia in them at all.

I would go with the exercise and watching your fats and carb intake more so than trying that.

I would beg to differ. There was a recent article in alive about hoodia:

Read it for yourself. It may be worth a try.

I've done some research on diet pills lately, and Hoodia is not a stimulant (like ephedra) so it does not have direct effects on heart rate or metabolism. Research studies so far have not found any negative effects of Hoodia in the body, unlike most other diet pill ingredients (Keep in mind though that diet pills can have hoodia PLUS other ingredients, so check the label before taking it).

Pure, unprocessed dark chocolate contains many nutrients. Among its numerous health benefits, unprocessed dark chocolate can help curb appetite to assist in weight loss.

But it has to be pure, unprocessed dark chocolate. You can't use regular chocolate for this purpose. Regular chocolate has been cooked at high temperatures that destroy most of the nutrients. Moreover, regular chocolate is filled with tons of sugar, fat and waxes that ruin the nutritional value and add lots of calories.

But if you choose to use pure, unprocessed chocolate to help weight loss, you need to use moderation. You must make sure you calorie intake remains unchanged by reducing your consumption of other sweets by an amount equivalent to the calorie intake of the chocolate you eat.

I am not a big fan of chocolate period, let alone Dark Chocolate. It is too bitter! I would look for nutrients thru veggies or fruit instead.

Weight Loss Resources members share the secrets of their success in our Top Ten Tips list. The list represents important ideas that come up time after time when members tell us about their weight loss success.
1.Don't cut out all the food you enjoy. I like the occasional takeaway, but now I save up calories to have one or earn it. If I restricted myself to just fruit and veg I'd give up very quickly. I also found that I could still eat my favourite foods if I 'tweak' them a bit: low fat cheese, low fat spread instead of butter, light mozzarella etc. Also the best thing I did was get olive oil spray! Sara
2.Write everything down. Even (or especially) on bad/splurge days. It’s only if you write things down that you know what you are doing. I’m not saying don’t have the Peking Duck. I am saying, at least know what having the Peking Duck means. Rachael
3.I find sticking a wedding invitation or holiday photograph of destinations I want to visit in a prominent place in the kitchen. This is a bit more subtle than a fat photograph of yourself and reminds you when you are tempted. Laura
4.Use scales in the kitchen - it's amazing how easy it is to deceive oneself! Mary
5.I think it is a good idea to buy some new clothes when you are down a size or two. That way, you are reminded of what you have achieved and not to go back to old sizes. Chuck out the old stuff or give it away. Steve
6.Life is too short so build in treats! Ok my weight loss is nice and slow but I don’t feel like I am on a diet or that I am depriving myself of anything (including chocolate and cheese. Lol!!!) Daniela
7.Be honest with yourself. Ok, if you go over the required cals, but keep a record, it's the average calorie intake that matters. Colin
8.It is not rocket science, but I am convinced that exercising is the key to success with sustained weight loss. I try to vary my routine, including the cross trainer and walking regularly, and cycling and swimming occasionally. Rob
9.Always measure alcohol consumed at home carefully, as it is easy to fool yourself. Maureen
10.Don’t ever give up! You are going to get bad days/weeks; it happens! Just get straight back on it and limit the damage.

keeping track f what you eat and how much is key. youd be surprised. most people consume portion sizes MUCH too big.

try out fitday.com, it is a really good way of keeping track of your calorie intake, but also allows you to set weight and nutirtion goals, and has all sorts of reports that show you how you are doing. I have been using it for years.

Obesity medically is defined on the basis of Body Mass Index which is the individual's body weight divided by the square of their height in kg/m2. So, a BMI of 18.5 to 25 may indicate optimal weight; a BMI lower than 18.5 suggests the person is underweight while a number above 25 may indicate the person is overweight; a BMI below 17.5 may indicate the person has anorexia or a related disorder; a number above 30 suggests the person is obese (over 40, morbidly obese).

So technically speaking, those with their body mass index of 30 and above tend to fall in the high risk zone. It arises from the accumulation of excess fat in the body from over consumption of fatty foods and is now one of the most common nutritional disorders in the world.
Latest studies have corroborated the fact that obesity is a silent killer. It is associated with cardiovascular disease, especially angina and myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis leading to cerebrovascular accidents/ strokes.

They also cause joint pains and are also associated with certain cancers like that of the breast or of the colon. The proportion of obese individuals in the developed countries has reached epidemic proportions. To put this picture in a better perspective, statistics show that one in five of all Americans are obese and one in three overweight.

If you think you can take a pill or supplement and fix your weight problem, then you are sucked into the same "quick fix" scam that tens of millions get sucked into every year. Diets don't work and every study ever done will tell you that. The only thing that works is changing your diet permanently and exercise. Eat lots of vegetables and fruit, lots of greens, legumes, nuts and seeds sparingly (high in calories but still healthy) and fish. Avoid processed foods like the plague. Avoid all restaurant food, packaged foods and anything you don't make yourself, because you don't know what is in it.
