Manufacturers are putting less food in consumer packages as a sneaky way to increase price and this has a multiple impact to the consumer and the environment. To the consumer directly as a price increase which is compounded as the packaging/shipping cost to food content ratio is also increasing. To the environment as this means the trash to food content ratio is increasing, so more material has to be recycled or tossed in landfills.
