Interest in coenzyme Q10 as an antiaging nutrient may arise from the fact that CoQ10 levels are highest during the first 20 years of life, then decline with age.
We might like to think that a single nutrient such as CoQ10
is the answer to increasing our lifespan, but research on
animals does not confirm a clear antiaging claim. Research
has confirmed, however, that CoQ10 keeps cells healthy and
well functioning, which can have profound effects on health
and longevity.
Since its discovery almost 50 years ago, CoQ10 has been identified as an essential participant in a variety of physiological processes. A lipid-soluble electron transporter, CoQ10 is responsible for the generation of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, which supplies energy to the cells. As an antioxidant, CoQ10 can help promote cellular health.
Scientists have attributed a wide variety of benefits to CoQ10. For example, doses of 1,200 mg per day are associated with signs of less disability in people with early Parkinson’s disease. CoQ10 is used for its potential ability to prevent cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscle or a change in heart muscle structure) due to the use of statin medications. Since commonly prescribed statin drugs block the production of CoQ10, a deficiency of this nutrient may be linked to an increased likelihood of early-onset heart failure. Some studies suggest that CoQ10 is helpful in re-establishing blood circulation to the heart after
bypass surgery. CoQ10 supplementation may support gum health and skin elasticity, and is being studied for migraine prevention, as well. |

Hello,
Interesting discussion. I've been interested in CoQ10 for a long time. Does anyone have any recommendations for a particular type of CoQ10 supplement? Or brand recommendation?
Thanks all and Happy Holidays!

I'm 99.9% certain Co-Q10 is just Co-Q10, there aren't any differing kinds like you might get with say Omega Fats, so basically go with one that offers the best value for money.
You can sometimes get stuff like that doubled or tripled up with other things, possibly like Vitamin E or other such things.
You could also try Consumerlab.com for unbiased reviews, and see if they have ever reviewed the efficacy and claims on any Co-Q10 products. I don't know if they have, but it's possible they might have done. |

Thanks boss,
I guess that's kinda what I was getting at - what medium or carrier is the CoQ10 packaged with? Kinda like Glucosamine supplements - it's recommended that the Sulfate version works better than the HCl version. But I'll shop around and check out the links you gave.
Thanks,
