| I've been taking Myoplex Lite for my protein after I workout. It's low in calories but packed with protein. |

| Protein after a workout helps as muscles (which are torn and pushed to their limit during weight lifting) try to replenish themselves. |

| Protein helps build and repair tissue that is broken down during your workout. Carbs replenish the glycogen stores in your muscles that you depleted during your workout. It's important to have both protein and carbs after your workout. |

| but come, on if you are already going to do something good for yourself by working out, why would you ruin it by chemically processed formulas???? eat some almonds, an egg, some whole grains, or fish after your workout. |

Protein shakes are fine, and in almost all cases, barring medical anomelies perfectly safe.
I just wrote something about this today on here.
You could have something like Fish, but without he Carbs, muscle Glycogen replenishment wouldn't happen as well. Again, whole-grain would work, but there's little Protein.
Almonds wouldn't be too good for either Protein or Carbs, they are Protein containers but low, and to get good amounts you'need to eat about 500 calories or more of Almonds, because they are high calorie due to the Fats.
Protein Shakes are a great way ti feed muscles and restore energy fast, because it's aliquid. |

| Not to mention protein shakes seem to fill you up too. My friend drinks them for lunch, and it helps him cut back on eating out for lunch. Plus he's saving cash during the week too! |

Oh oh oh!!! I know this one :o
The body breaks down proteins into Amino Acids which are then used to repair damaged tissue or build new tissue. including body firming MUSCLE! And protein slows release of blood sugar which means having sustained energy! So I guess after you work out you might be getting tired and eating protein can keep you going!?!
PS I'm not a total know-it-all... I read this in my Biggest Loser Success Secrets book |

Protein could well do that yes, as Protein is assisted into muscles by an Insulin response, so if you add Carbs to a Protein source, or use a mixed source like Rice, Mushrooms, Peas, Beans, Lentils, Soybeans and Peanuts, you could be boosting the Proteins ability to get into Muscles.
This would mean the Carbs lowering bloodsugar drop, or stemming it, possibly increasing it, depending on the type of Carbs and amount. Simple digest at 30 calories per minute to bloodstream, complex at 2 calories per minute.
Plus the Protein Amino Acids are good for boosting Iron, not including their individual functions. |
