Well this isn't a recipe but I was wondering about meat substitutes... Are they actually worth trying? Do they taste like meat at all?

There tend to be 3 schools of meat-substitutes. You have to test different brands to see which they are.
1. the ones that actually taste like meat (Yves does a good job of this)
2. the ones that take the place of meat in a recipe but taste nothing like it - they rely on their own unique flavours
3. the ones that don't get it right at all and are gross!
Try Yves Veggie Cuisine and others like it in your grocer's veggie aisle. I'm sure you'll find one that suits your tastebuds. |

I personally feel that if you are not eating meat for health reasons, than stay away from all these meat substitutes, because they are not healthy. They are full of preservatives, artificial flavouring and colouring, and soy. Instead discover the amazing things you can do fruits and vegetables. Good luck!

I found a good substitute for grilled chicken... at Trader Joes they have "grilled chicken strips" made from soy and they are great on my salads for work.

Yea like someone had mentioned there are different meat substitutes and there are some that has a lot of flavor. I don't eat much meat substitutes that has a meat flavor but I'll go ahead and buy tofu that I'll chop up and add to my dishes.
