Hi Donna,

If you visit Richard Simmons website, you can send him an e-mail with your phone number and he will get in touch with you I'm sure (but be patient as I'm sure he is very busy).

You can also e-mail either of these 2 addresses:

help@teamrichardsimmons.com

cslinda@teamrichardsimmons.com!

They will direct your correspondence to Richard.

Hang in there. Take it one day at a time. You didn't gain it all at once, so you cannot expect an overnight miracle. Avoid mirrors, the scale, fast food places, spending a lot of time in the kitchen, etc. and try to occupy yourself with other things besides food (such as chores around the house, reading the newspaper, knitting or sewing, going for a short walk, phoning a friend--anything outside of food) .

I'm sure you know all this but eat as close to nature as possible and cut out all junkfood (basically anything with flour or sugar in it). If you do that, then you cannot help but lose weight and if you throw in a bit of exercise on top of it, even more so.

I find that unsweetened oatmeal and spoon sized shredded wheat are very filling (I'm talking about 1/4 of DRY oatmeal and 1/2 cup of ssww.) Drink skim milk and unsweetened low fat yogurt only, as opposed to the richer kind (you can add the latter or unsweetened applesauce over top the oatmeal--I like to mix in 1 T. of flavoured protein powder), throw out all bread, pasta, sugary drinks, butter, snack food, etc.

If you're almost bedridden then you're not burning many calories, so you don't need to consume as much food as an active person.

Think high fiber, low fat, no sugar. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store only and only shop for groceries once a week. Try to cut back on coffee/tea because caffeine stimulates the appetite.

If you must snack between meals, have a small can of V8 juice and a cheese string with some lettuce. Have a huge salad for lunch and supper with low cal dressing, mixed with vinager and lemon juice. That is VERY filling with very few calories.

Keep us posted on your weight loss. Good luck and hang in there. It wouldn't hurt to pray and ask for God's help too. :)

Good for you.
I am happy to see you take ownership for this. Being obese is likely to shave many years off of your life as well as reduce your hapiness and standard of living.
You will find that exercising will be fulfilling as well.
I had two babies back to back and was discouraged by the weight I had managed to put on. Shortly after my pregnancy I became a vegetarian and have reaped the benefit of my diet over and over again. Even eating vegetarian meant that I couldn't eat at McDonald's anymore. After eating ultra-healthy I started to feel sick when eating chips or even smelling fast "food." This has moved my hubby and I to snack on fruit and crackers.
I have lost over 30 pounds in 6 months, feel energetic, healthier and happier. I feel like I have recovered from my births at a much faster rate and have discovered a whole new world of food tastes. Even you aren't vegetarian you can reduce your caloric intake and boost your vitamin and mineral intake by cutting back on bad meats. Eat lean and eat baked or cooked with little butter.
Eat way more veggies.
Also, vegetarians are less likely to be obese and a vegetarian diet is good for you heart and for diabetes.
There is no cholesterol in veggies. Just meat and animal products (like eggs).
I hope that you find the healthy life you are searching for.

Hi all,

100% raw is the way to go...Well, I myself am not quite there yet but I'm working on it... I have been changing my diet slowly because I am sensitive to a lot of stuff out there that people like to eat...All that packaged food is full of chemicals and toxins...It doesn't matter if you can't afford organic..I can't...although if you are going to think about going raw eating your fruit first is best because it gets your digestion ready for your main course of vegetables... you can eat them anyway you want in the blender or whole. When you think of it have you ever seen a fat vegetarian? I you get the munchies grab some fruit it is better for you than a bag of chips or any junk food and I find I don't eat as much fruit as I would have if it had been chips or chocolate or something like that..

The joy of eating a natural diet and just simply loving it!!!
