Although my nutritionist, Sally Erry would allow me one cup, Dr Sciortino has banished coffee from my diet. I miss it dreadfully. Is there anyone out there who can recomend a replacement that has the soul satisfying comfort of that first cup of coffee in the morning? Green tea doesn't come close. Rooibos is ok later in the day and black tea with lemon and honey is almost there......but none of them quite fit the bill. I have tried lemon ginger tea, peach flavoured green tea, rooibos with vanilla and rooibos with lemon grass. Jasmine tea is disgusting, so is anything with lavender and if you have to waive the milk jug over it, well forget that. I have been rendered to a sad state.
Please help. I will not let a drop of coffee past my lips until I have reached or surpassed all my goals. |

What about decaf? It still has the taste and satisfying nature of regular java but without the caffiene. There are several good brands of organic, water-pressed (not a chemical process) decaf brews that should work for you.
Ask your Dr.

| When you love coffee, it is indeed hard to give up. There are several coffee substitutes that try to provide some of the coffee satisfaction you crave. Try a product called "Postum." You'll find it in the grocery store next to the coffee and tea. Even though it isn't the real thing, I've found it good enough to be worth drinking when coffee's acid is bothering me. Ovaltine is another good substitute, and because it's made with milk (or soy milk if you prefer), it gives you calcium and all the other goodness of milk. As a bonus, I'm quite sure that neither of these products has caffiene. -- Gary L |

I use something called Teechino as a coffee substitute. It works
just like coffee in a coffee maker. It's delicious. YOu buy it at a
health food store. |

| well...maybe doc is not aware of latest endrocirinology studies? Studies investigating the ancient footprint for our body's INDIVIDUAL response to certain kinds of foods & exercise. Metabolically, it seems we are mostly held by our BLOOD TYPE....you know, "O","A", etc. For type A bloodtype, coffee is reccommended for the way it works synergistically with the bodily function...but for instance-type O is not benefitted from coffee, so need to avoid to best support immune system and health. If a type O, occasional indulgances seem to be handled once optimal health and fitness are achieved....READ: Eat Right for your Blood Type- by a easy resource which copiles this research and medical publications into a useful handbook. Excercise info cool as well...YOGA-type As, what types of cardio for each, etc.! |
