Thanks to Grandma and guest for your encouragement.
Grandma, when I was approached to participate in this make over it was a private phone call, I thought about it long and hard for at least 30 seconds before I said yes. It was explained I would see several health professionals and write about it in the magazine. Just because a photographer would be present at each consultation to take pictures didn’t mean anyone would see. When I start the exercises I will do them in the privacy of my own home, who will know? So it is a health magazine……With how many readers ??? So here I am hanging out in public. I didn’t have a clue until I was well and truly committed. I don’t know what I was thinking.
This gives great incentive to succeed and hopefully help anyone who has not had this opportunity, but wishes to take steps toward a new or healthier lifestyle. One unexpected but delightful aspect of going public is being contacted by a friend I had lost touch with. She saw the January article and phoned to offer encouragement.
I didn’t think I would be making many changes after all I was following a low fat diet. Boy did I have it wrong! I was cutting back on healthy fat as well as animal fats, eating refined starches and not getting enough vitamins, minerals or fiber. I have taken note of your advice to Rob with regard to taking supplements, I was concerned that I would forget them also. The idea of setting them up the night before is a sound idea.
When I start the fitness I know the pounds will rearrange themselves so I can only improve in that area. Now that some of my illusions have been shattered I believe there is room for much more improvement than I anticipated. |
