|
|
I have a vision about health care. My proposal is that Canada adopt a national health care system that supports only alternative health care and integrative medicine. I’d like to put my money where my heart is, and my heart is determined to choose to remain in vital health with a little help from my friends. Maintaining “preventive” health is an on-going affair not only with my body, but with the world around me. This imposes real responsibility which feeds me constant food for thought and action. I call this freedom.
Imagine having the choice to pay your monthly fee into a new Canadian Wellness Plan that supports homeopaths, massage or shiatsu therapists, holistic nutritionists, naturopaths, TCMs, aromatherapists, life coaches, and certified organic food choices.
Casting your ballot for a Canadian Wellness Plan trickles down to what we need to maintain our zest for life. This might include thought and action on how and why our food production sources have all but created worldwide fear pandemics and facing the fact that our commercial, chemically laced foods with their 10-year shelf lives may be connected to cancer and other diseases.
Economists and/or present institutions might assume that if it is a person’s will to remain healthy, then no support systems are needed and the money stops, but this is not true. Canadians part with millions of dollars for wellness treatments and nutritional supplements. The statistics are in.
A Canadian Wellness Plan could be the catalyst for unifying folks to support issues that face us all.
So let’s start something new. Rally for the right of choice, the rightful knowledge to create and maintain purposeful lives. |

I couldn't agree with you more. With all the side effects and withdrawal symptoms from various prescription medication out there, it's no wonder that people are turning to alternative therapies. My biggest frustration is in trying to talk to a doctor about vitamins and minerals. So far I have been unable to find a doctor who knows anything substantial about vitamins. I find it sickening that a doctor will prescribe a medication knowing that there are side effects (sometimes very uncomfortable side effects or possibly even life threatening) but won't even consider a natural approach for his/her patient. I was totally shocked to have my doctor agree with me that "doctors really don't know much about vitamins because there is no money to be made".
Shouldn't our health care system reflect solutions involving preventative maintenance? |

I like your idea but what concerns me is the plan and process it will take to convince the unconvinceable that this idea of yours is not only practical but financially viable. After all, its all about commerce. Isn't that what makes the world turn these days???!!!
How are you going to convince our governance that the Gross National Product currently attained through the perpetuation of disease, bad business and lethal environmental habits is less lucrative than what it can attain through wellness programming, holistic health care, environmental sustainability and ethical business practice?
Darn big project, I say. I guess we just keep doing what we're doing; communicating, promoting, utilizing wellness tools and leading by example. And, I dare say, we must keep spending our money in the right places.
Thanks you Alive for getting and keeping the earthly wellness ball rolling. Thank you co-writers for your motivating comment. |

|
|
I agree with the comments. There needs to be a paradigm shift in medical thinking from treating disease to disease prevention.
The problem is current paradigms are like traditions and they take time to change. A revolution is required.
By far most of healthcare dollars today are spent on medication and treatment of symptoms once someone is sick. A very small percentage is spent on prevention.
Most of the information made available on chronic diseases in books, magazines and on the web by medical institutions and government bodies usually only encourages reactive procedures and the treatment of symptoms.
Reactive procedures include the monitoring of patient’s health through tests, scans and the regular evaluation of symptoms.
Most doctors still maintain that you can obtain all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients you need from a normal healthy diet. It would be good if this was the case but because of the degradation of the food supply it has become almost impossible to achieve a diet for optimal health and the prevention of degenerative disease.
A paradigm shift will only occur with more discussions and action like this.

I write this to let you know that there is an optimal alternative health care out there that many Canadians and Americans haven't heard about. It is based on a 100% pure nutrition and has been available for 20 years. However I don't want to run any advertising here in this forum. So everybody being interested in this, please phone me @ 780 639 3267 or e-mail me with YOUR phone# at pharwer2@telus.net. Give yourself a chance to know about this! You've got to know this, if you don't like drugs.
